No really get over it
The General Assembly voted this weekend to express "profound regret" for the state's participation in slavery. Slavery ended in the US in 1865. If my calculations are correct that means there is not ONE person alive today that participated in slavery in the US.
Was slavery right? Absolutely not. I will not apologize for something that I had no part of.
Do I think we as America should forget slavery ever existed? Absolutely not. It is a part of our history. A part of our history we have learned from and grown from.
I find it appalling that we feel we need to apologize for something that happened well over a 100 years ago. What more do Americans need to do to pay for slavery? And while we are talking about Americans.. Are African Americans also apologetic that slavery happened as Americans, or is it just the mean white people that should be sorry? Oh and when is Africa going to apologize for giving their citizens up for slavery?
