MS. JONES APOLOGIZES FOR THE HUGE TYPO MADE IN THE PREVIOUS ENTRY
The following article is from The Pueblo Chieftain dated January 28, 2006
L.A. firm to lead search for new CSU-Pueblo president
By GAYLE PEREZ
THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN
DENVER - The Los Angeles-based consulting firm of ATKearney will lead the search for a new president at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
The Colorado State University board of governors on Friday unanimously approved hiring ATKearney to assist in finding a replacement for CSU-Pueblo President Ronald Applbaum, who will be stepping down in July when his four-year contract ends.
ATKearney, led by Alberto Pimentel, specializes in recruiting minority and women candidates.
The cost for hiring ATKearney still must be negotiated.
Chancellor Larry Penley said the contract guarantees that if the individual hired for the position leaves within a year, the search would be free.
ATKearney was among three firms the CSU governing board recently interviewed as part of the selection process. The others were Korn Ferry of Dallas and Baker-Parker of Atlanta.
In recommending ATKearney, several board members said they were pleased with the fact that Pimentel would be the lead individual in the search.
"I like the experience that ATKearney would bring to the table," said board member Diane Evans.
In other search-related items, board President Pat Grant said he had hoped to be able to name the appointments to the presidential search committee on Friday, but would not be able to do so until next week.
Grant said applications are still being reviewed. He said anticipates making a decision on that search committee early next week. "This is my priority right now."
The 11-member search committee will be composed of three members of the board of governors, two CSU-Pueblo faculty members, a classified staff member, an administrator, a student representative, two Pueblo community members and a representative from the CSU system.
The committee will offer its recommendation to the board on a possible candidate. The board will have the ultimate decision on hiring the president.
The president of a University recently decided to step down from his presidential position to the head of one of the departments at the University. The University in a search for a replacement president hired a firm to do the recruitment. Interestingly the firm that was hired has been praised for its specializing in hiring white males. I expect to see a justified major backlash at this announcement. The University is evidently looking for a new face to represent its majority of students. The demographic currently being a majority of white males. Does that demographic justify the search?
America is built on the American Dream. Its built from immigrants who came here to escape something or find something. Some, most came here with nothing and built this country also from nothing. Today the opposite is happening. People are sneaking over our borders, breaking the law. They are costing the US billions of dollars.
I remember a story last year where a web page on Colorado States Website was shut down, because it gave tips on how to get medical care and open bank account among other things to illegal immigrants. Supporting this behavior is not what our country is about. Illegal immigrants are more than just a hindrance, much more. I received an email a short time ago advertising help for illegal immigrants. This week news has been released that now the Mexican Government is aiding Mexican border jumpers. We hear news like this but then people get in an uproar when they hear about people like the Minute Men, or other groups, including Border Patrol, using force to stop the illegals. Why is Mexico aiding these people? Who can blame them. They don't want their citizens, what makes them think we want them??? People illegal immigration needs to be taken seriously. You think its not your problem? Well it is.
Here is an entry I originally wrote on illegal immigration April 7, 2005:
It seems crazy to me that people are still trying to justify illegal immigrants coming into the U.S. Two teenage girls were arrested on suspicion of terrorism, they think they were going to be suicide bombers check it out at http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,152716,00.html How is it that one of these girls was actually a student at a public high school. I understand that our country is founded by people who immigrated to North America but we have got to put a stop some where. I believe that people should be able to go through the right steps to become U.S. citizens, but I am tired of paying for the illegals. My father lives, and I lived, in a town close to the Mexican border in Arizona, (very near where the minute men are located right now). You have these people that pile in vehicles and sneaking over the border, the weight of all the people causes something to happen to the vehicle, and they wreck. Well then you have to send them to a hospital, and then send them back to Mexico(if that is where they are from, hopefully not from a terrorism supporting country using the border to get here) Who gets stuck footing the bill? The tax payers. Its bad enough when we have to support the lifetime welfare recipients, but now even people who are not our citizens. According to http://www.fairus.org/news/NewsPrint.cfm?ID=2442&c=55 . the average Arizona household forks out about $700 per year due to the cost of illegals. In the State of Colorado we have had on our government web site a guide for Spanish speaking illegals a "how to guide" http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20050202-123527-7751r.html The city that I live in, has several illegals, that are here living with family members. PEOPLE, there are laws in this country!! A local girl has put a complaint against her college professor for suggesting his students go to an event where illegal immigration would be discussed, she feels offended by this. Not only are illegal immigrants a financial burden, but they also pose a security issue. They are not documented and go under the radar, until it is too late or very close to being to late. No, I am not trying to say all illegals are going to break the law, but oh wait they already have! Oh and please don't forget Mexico is not the only bordering country.
Ms. Jones apologizes for her lack of entries, aside from the one posted this morning, which she should apologize for publishing.. She is currently working on an entry that should be ready to be published tomorrow. Please be patient and until that time feel free to comment on past entries. Open forum comments may be left here.
American Idol is upon us again. They are currently at the most entertaining part where people can't sing get put in front of the judges and get ripped apart. The most ridiculous of people show up, very well knowing that they won't make it but will probably show up on tv. GLAAD has come out (no pun intended) against the show and their demeaning comments to the homosexuals that audition. My question is where is the "outrage" for the comments made against the fat people ("do we have a bigger stage")? I have often wondered why some in the gay community act so outrageous "flaming". That is they way those homosexuals on the show that have had comments made to them were being. Totally over the top and besides that can't sing. What do they expect the judges to say? Be ticked off that a a talented obese woman was insulted. Really I don't think anyone gives a rats that your gay, its the fact that you act like a 10 year old girl when you are a 20 something year old man. Where is the ACLU when you need them?
Jill Carroll could very well be living her final day today. She was kidnapped while working as a freelance reporter covering the happenings in Iraq. We have been told that Ms. Carroll traveled without security, and emerged herself in the culture. The captors are saying that they will kill her if all females that the US has detained are not released today. We all know that is not going to happen. So lets reflect on something, if we can. Why again are so many people claiming that Al Qaeda and Hussein are good people? They have not only killed so many of their own, but also so many of ours. When things like this happen does it remind you of what is happening or are you still quick to defend these evil people? My thoughts and prayers are with Jill Carroll and her family.

We always hear how the conservative republican party is a racist one. Our party is full of bigots and is a party for white males only. We saw Ted Kennedy last week question Judge Alito for his connection to a very questionable group. Ted Kennedy a person who's family legacy is what keeps him in position. A family who had membership to a white male only club among other non diverse organizations. The Democrats claim to be the party that represents minorities, women, and the working class, although they are rich white males telling you this. They need racism to exist so that they have a cause. They don't want to see success, although we all know that it doesn't matter what race you are or sex, as long as you have the drive and the will power. They are the party that brings racism into EVERYTHING, just look at Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, they can see racism in girl picking a daisy. The ACLU isn't successful if they can't convince you you are being treated unfairly and will make sure racism and sexism never goes away.
Then we have Hillary Clinton, someone who is Presidential Democratic hopeful for the next election. Monday, as we all know was Martin Luther King Day. Strategically, Ms. Clinton placed herself in a church (thats not very politically correct) in Harlem. In that church she spoke to a crowd of mostly black men. The highlight of her speech came when she compared the GOP to plantation owners. WHAT?!?! Nu uh did she just go there? Are you friggin kidding me? For a party that constantly says the conservatives live in the past and that we are racist, sure pulled a good one there.
People be assured, the "Man" isn't a conservative white man bringing you down, the "Man" bringing you down, is a liberal white woman you are going to try and put in office.
Today as some of you may know, is Martin Luther King Day. To some people today means a lot, it means freedom and equality, to others it simply means a day off. Of course that is what most holidays have become.
Martin Luther King Day is a day to "celebrate the birthday of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr." (Yep thats right a Reverends birthday, shhhh don't tell anyone)
There is no doubt in my mind that Rev. King did a great deal for equality in our country. He said a lot of things a lot of people didn't want to hear. So with all my heart thank you to Rev. King for that.
I cannot hold the Rev. to a greater height than that. There are many people before and after him that fight the same fight, and are more honorable than MLK. He is a symbol, but one that is greatly tarnished.
Are you my friend? Am I your friend?
What exactly is a friend? Is a friend a person you trust? Is a friend a person you have known for years or have just met? Is a friend someone you talk to everyday? Can a friend be someone you only talk to once in a while? Is a friend someone who can tell you anything? Is a friend someone you can tell everything to? Is a friend someone you see often, or someone you have never seen before? Is a friend, your mother, father, brother, sister? Is a friend someone you would do anything for? Can I be your friend without you being mine? Is a friend someone you can forgive no matter what they do to you? Is a friend someone who shares your same beliefs? Is a friend someone you work with? Is there such a thing as a true friend? Are you a friend? Am I a friend?
Is it that time of the month? I sound like a whiny girlie.
21 WAYS TO BE A GOOD DEMOCRAT
1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.
2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.
3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese and North Korean communists.
4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding.
5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical documented changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's.
6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural.
7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.
8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.
9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do.
10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.
11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money to make The Passion Of The Christ for financial gain only.
12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.
14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more
important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Robert E. Lee, Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell.
15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.
16. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal and is a very nice person.
17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.
18. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail, but a liar and a sex offender belonged in the White House.
19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and beastiality should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.
20. You have to believe that illegal Democratic Party funding by the Chinese Government is somehow in the best interest to the United States.
21. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right wing conspiracy,cv,rv,a,
I apologize to you all for this rant, but I must vent. I realized a long time ago that people in Hollywood should not be considered roll models. At least not in general. I am sure there are many a good people out there, unfortunately we don't often here those stories. NO, Sean Penn is not one of them.
Angelina is a great person, she has adopted two children and they are with her at every photo op. Brad is a great person, he is selflessly trying to adopt Angelina's two children. How terrific the news was this morning when we learned that they are actually expecting a child together. Wow, what a true Hollywood romance. Please just ignore the fact that they started attempting to make that child at the cost of his marriage. What a great roll model these two are for their children.
Infidelity is not new in this world let alone in Hollywood, however it seems there must be something in the water there these days. We have Kevin and Brittney, Jessica and Nick, Tori Spelling and her hubby, Jude Law and fiance Sienna Miller. What do all those couples have in common? They either ended due to infidelity or started because of infidelity. What a great great land we live in.
State Senator Norma Anderson (R)made a not so common New Years resolution last week. She decided to abandon her seat in the Colorado State Senate. This week would have been the start of Andersons final year.
Anderson stated that she hoped a woman would take her seat. Ok lets stop there for a second. PEOPLE... how are we ever going to get over things like racism and sexism, when people stay stupid crap like this? Yesterday during the Alito hearings, Senator Leahy stated in not so many words that we already have one Italian American on the supreme court so for diversity we need a Hispanic or a black. What ever happened to picking the person thats best for the position?
So 4 republicans decide they would be interested in filling the vacant seat. Although it appears obvious that Anderson strategically stepped away from her post, in order to try and have the seat filled by someone the voters probably wouldn't pick when election time comes around. ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME HERE. So the vacancy committee meets with those four candidates behind closed doors in secrecy for 30 minutes each. Ah, well I mean 30 minutes isn't bad when you already have the winner in a sealed envelope and the winner is.. Kathleen Traylor aka Kiki aka, least likely to win an election for State Senator. Meanwhile, the other 3 candidates Barb Neville, Justin Everett, and Mike Klopp just realized how much time they wasted. Anderson stands to the side petting her hand picked replacement and non blood relative, while enjoying her new carreer as a groomer...
Come on now Republicans, you are starting to become that other party!! All we need is a few more alcoholics and hidden murder weapons, and we are them. We have no time for these games of scandal. Wise up..
I trust that when elections come around that the people of the district Kiki now represents will realize what a crock this was and the right person will then fill the seat. Kiki is until then an obvious seat warmer. Congrats Kiki.
To those candidates who were left with a horrid taste in there mouth for politics, Keep Fighting, just think Kiki now has several months to show the people how the decision was made.
The time is coming for Judge Alito's confirmation hearings. The question of course is will we be seeing a filibuster in our future? Dems have stated that they have no plans to filibuster. Ah yes, anyone believing that please raise your hands. Alito's record on the 3rd circuit proves he is fit for the Supreme Court. Any filibuster attempts would be an obvious waste of time and would make a mockery of the nomination and confirmation process.
I find it a disgrace that a Senator from my state is honestly looking to keep Alito from Supreme Court. Senator Salazar(D) as part of his campaign spoke against filibustering President Bush's Supreme Court nominee's. What is he doing now? Considering doing just that.
Judge Alito, is a man of integrity and to disrespect our President as well as his nominee by filibustering, is making a mockery of U.S citizens. What exactly is it that Democrats are afraid of?
Most importantly I would like to express my condolences to those who lost family and friends in the tragic mining "accident" this week. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
Sadly all but one miner died in the mine accident this week. This contradicts earlier irresponsible reports, by media and the Governor that only one died. Yes, this is the media we rely on everyday for facts. I am noticing more and more that the media is not based on fact but purely on agenda.
This wasn't the only thing that caught my eye in the media with this tragedy. Most of you remember a few years ago another mining accident. I recall watching that story unfold from beginning to end. We saw almost constant coverage including all miners being rescued. This was not the case this week. This story seemed to be a ,although breaking news headline, sporadic story. It aired mainly during regular news times and during news conferences. There were several problems that caused this accident, as well as a delay in rescue attempts. There was many hints to a lack of regulations or enforcement of mining regulations.
This morning in watching Good Morning America, there was an obvious change of attitude toward government officials, from the attitudes we saw during hurricane season. It was said this morning that in times of tragedy people are often quick to blame someone. This is true. Democrat Governor Joe Manchin is obviously not being held responsible for the mining accident by media, although that doesn't seem to be true of the grieving families. They want answers. Was this an accident caused by nature or an "accident" cause by lack of policy and enforcement?
The ACLU is leading a fight against the actions of President Bush. Oh you knew it was going to happen! They are here to stand up for the rights of those whose conversations were wired by the administration. They evidently feel that spying on people when you suspect they are doing something wrong and against national security is very wrong and violates many rights. In other ACLU news, they will begin providing video cameras to residents of a certain area of St. Louis to video the actions of police officers upholding the law. They hope that the "mistreatment" by police of people in the area will be caught on tape.
Ah yes in true ACLU protect the criminals and stick it to those protecting the rest of us.
