Get over it

Ok I know this subject has been discussed so many times, I should be over it, but I am not. On top of the recycling of the topic it is SOOOO last year. However, I choose to vent..

I have never had a big problem with women breastfeeding in public. I understand that sometimes you just have no choice. As long as you are covered up and I don't have to stare at your naked boob, eh not a big deal. HOWEVER, last night my boyfriend and I were enjoying a nice dinner at a pricey Italian restaurant. A couple came in with a relatively new born baby. The couple sat down at a booth across from us, and not 5 minutes later you will never guess what happened... Yep the baby started sucking away. No, there was no boobie viewing, she had a blanket covering her, but.. I couldn't help but wonder, why on earth they would not have fed this child just 15 min before?? What is the deal??

I then wondered what would happen if a couple came in to the restaurant and the man decided he needed some mamo-attention?? If she had a blanket would it be ok? HMMM sounds like a good psychological test to me. Do I mind seeing boobs, no in fact I have a couple myself. Where a cleavage shirt if you want to show boob but otherwise Women please keep your View image">boobs in your shirt, feed your kids before you go out. Do you really think it is necessary to prove to everyone that you have a built in View image">milk dispenser, because as a woman or just an educated human I already know you do.

Hang them out

Ever since the evil phone tapping story came out, I have been waiting for the poop to hit the fan. Not against our President(I knew we would have to wait long for the Libs to take care of that) but against whomever actually leaked the information. This has really bothered me that we haven't heard much about the loose lipped bandit. Yesterday I was visiting friends blog. His entry stated he was a bit dumbfounded by this lack of outrage. I started to proclaim my anger at the lack of coverage, and it donned on me, I hadn't written anything myself.

In our not so distant past we were plagued by the outrage against Karl Rove. Had he leaked the name of a CIA agent to the press or not? If so, he was to burn in hell, at least that was what we got from the media. These past couple weeks we have heard that to protect our Country against terrorists, that some suspected terrorists phones were tapped. We discussed here the appropriateness or inappropriateness of the tapping. Let us now discuss the inappropriateness of the leak itself.

Someone out there has again risked the security of many for the sake of a media story. Do we have a bunch of school girls in politics these days? Can't keep anything to your self, must tell someone.. We know how the conversations went

Shallowthroat:"Oh my Gawd you will not believe what George is doing!" Sally Mae: replies"Oh my Gawd tell me, tell me" St: "Well I heard from Bob that George was listening in on phone conversations" "I mean so what if he heard that they were threatening to bomb the playground, how rude is that?!" SM"SHUT UP!, I mean what a jerk. He is soooo nosey!!" ST:"I Know!" SM "Do you think he listened in on my chat with Greg, that would be SOOOO embarrassing" ST:"You talked to Greg, Thats sooo cool" SM:"ShallowThroat!!!" ST "Well I think someone needs to know about this, make sure you tell the student council, they know everyone.." "Click Click" SM and ST together "Did you hear that??" "George is that you???"

Ok, So when is it going to hit the fan, when are we going to hear that someone is in deep s**t? That is completely unacceptable, and I for one do not want to know that my tax dollars are going to pay salaries on someone that can't keep their lips zipped. What happened to Security Clearances? Do these not mean anything? Perhaps we need to start sequestering all administration, From President to State Reps, for the length of their term. Until that happens, I insist that someone find out who did this, and they are prosecuted to the fullest.

Respect

There are many types of memorials in the world. There are walls, statues, cemeteries etc. While on the internet this morning I came across an MSNBC page featuring The Year in Pictures. The page was featured on MSN's home page, and the picture representing the feature was of a man jumping from one pillar to another pillar. The caption explains the picture as a "visitor jumping from pillar to pillar at the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin". Now I have never been to the Holocaust Memorial, perhaps it is built to jump from pillar to pillar like a jungle gym. I would hope not. So assuming(yes, yes I know) that it does not fill in as playground equipment, this seems very disrespectful that this visitor is using it as such.

I remember visiting the Punch Bowl Memorial Cemetery. The memorial is a beautiful, heart touching place to see. My parents explained to me before reaching the site, that this was a place that was very meaningful. As we walked around and took in the meaning of it all, I noticed several things. Children running around screaming and laughing, adults laughing while posing ridiculously for pictures. This was somehow not a place of sobriety but a place of nonsense.

Memorials represent different people, events, and times. They are meaningful and should not be taken lightly. These aren't spots like the worlds largest ball of yarn, or largest slice of cheese, take them seriously or do us all a favor and stay at home. This type of behaviour is quite sickening, and a slap in the face to those who care about the history of our world.

Please leave a message..

I don't know about some of you, but some cell phone rings and voice mail messages, irk me. Now when you call a cell phone number you don't hear the normal ring on the phone but a song through the phone receiver. How about those voice mail messages that sound like the person has an IQ of about 10. Seems a man in Austria received a harsh lesson on phone message etiquette. A man who was being contacted via his cell phone to be questioned about a theft he was involved with pissed off the police by sending them to voice mail. Ok lets stop there for a minute.. How many criminals do you think actually answer their phones when their caller ID reads YOUR BUSTED.. Anyhow, this not so bright guy had downloaded Hitlers voice on to his cell phone. In Austria Nazi Propaganda is a big no no.. Hmmm go figure. When the guy was finally tracked down, via his pager( I made that up) he was not only charged with the theft but also was given a few extra months for the Hitler excerpt. Now I suppose we will hear some crybaby freedom of speach nonsense now but for me I am just happy a wish of mine has been answered, prosecute all people with annoying cell phone rings/messages.

Is it for the good?

It was leaked to the media that President Bush approved of phone conversations being tapped by the NSA. It seems approximately 40 people had their conversations recorded. These people were viewed by the NSA as possible terrorist suspects. So the question is, Is it right? I have had mixed feelings on this. I hate to see America become a place where we have no privacy. However, if you are planning to destroy our country, you have no rights to privacy. How many of the 40 or so actually were actually found to have been terrorists? What are we as Americans willing to give up to protect our selves? I believe that our President and his Administration are doing what needs to be done, to protect us all. If that means that some terrorist had to have his 1-900 call taped, then so be it. Should we let phone taps get out of control? No.

Continued...

After the last entry on AIDS awareness, I found today's topic fitting. It was discussed how important awareness was, and also that abstinence cannot be the only answer. The question was asked about helping awareness in the US, and prevention in the US. In the US the biggest group to be infected with HIV and AIDS is males who have sex with males. In 2003 New York and California had the highest number of cases.

You would assume (although you know what they say of those who assume), that the groups with the highest population of infection (including drug users and others) would be the most cautious. Evidently this is not true. The LA Times reports that gay clubs are giving out a false sense of security (aka stupidity) by handing out an AIDS drug called tenofovir. A drug that does not prevent HIV. According to the article the drug is being sold at clubs (no necessarily "by" the clubs) along with "other" party drugs like ecstasy. Hmmm AIDS drug now a party drug?? The idea being that if you take the drugs you can be foolish and not worry about wearing a condom. Interesting, and very very sad..

The article states that some are worried that this stupidity will crossover to other highrisk groups. Intelligent, To the current group of idiots, really I say start thinking with the right head. If you feel the need to do someone of your own sex at least use a condom. Perhaps this is what the ad should focus on.

I Do not Do you?

I was in elementary school or early middle school. A friend of my family was sick. Very sick... He was in the hospital dying. My mother went to see him without me. I begged her to take me to the hospital to see him, so she did. When we arrived his room was surrounded by signs saying DANGER, cautionary tape, and so forth. We had to put on masks to go in and see him. We entered the room and he had tubes going in to every part of his body. We stayed for a short while and then had to leave. I cried and the image has never left my mind. Shortly after he passed away and we buried him. Our friend was HIV positive then full blown AIDS.

That was then and this is now. We now know where AIDS comes from, how you contract it and all that great stuff. We also know how to NOT contract it. Some of you may have seen the new AIDS awareness campaign. It's on the net, in magazines and elsewhere. There is a picture of several actors. I am not sure if all the people in the ad are famous or if it is a mix. At the bottom of the picture are the words "We all have AIDS, If one of us does". You can buy shirts even that claim you have AIDS.
Well I would like to state I don't have AIDS! I am all for awareness and understanding. I am not afraid of a person that is HIV positive or has AIDS. I know I can touch them, hug them, speak to them, but I do not have AIDS. What are your thoughts on this campaign? Do you have AIDS, if he has AIDS?

Pouring one for the homies

Well Nobel Peace Prize nominee Stanley Williams was executed this morning. This execution has been on my mind for a while. This poor old man who lived the later part of his life as a kind gentle soul was killed this morning, for murder.

I think it is important that when we picture Old Man Williams, we see him for what he was when he did these crimes. Not the poor old man he was when he was executed. Another way for the media to twist our thoughts a bit. Remeber people this man not only co-founded one of the most dangerous gangs but also murdered many people. He was not a kind gentle soul then, even if he was yesterday.

Childish Antics, I mean Atheist

How many of you when you were younger and maybe still today would argue something just for the sake of arguing it? Perhaps argued just for the attention? Just for the sake of the argument? That is the feeling I got when I read an article that Leb sent me. The article from MSNBC summarizes an interview from The Situation.

A seemingly intelligent college student and president of an atheist group was the interviewed subject. Thomas Jackson and his group Atheist Agenda, sponsored an interesting program called Smut for Smut. The premise being that people bring their Holy Scripture (referred to as smut) and exchange it for porn (referred to as a lessor form of smut).

Well that's a great way to prove your point. Yes, it all makes sense to me. Smut for Smut.. Mr. Jackson seemed to be at bit confused with Mr. Carlson pointed out that our laws come from the Bible. When discussing this with a friend, she said she found Mr. Carlson to be somewhat condescending when he advised Mr. Jackson to "think this out" or something along those lines. What I think is condescending is this otherwise as I said seemingly intelligent person, making a mockery of Holy text, not just the Bible but all of them.

Smut, he calls it. Well what I call smut is a college student wasting his smarts handing out porn. Fighting a fight just for the sake of fighting it. Tis a shame he couldn't find something more useful to do with his time. Perhaps some keg stands at the local frat party would be more appropriate. I wonder what Mr. Jackson is doing with the text he collects. I am sure there are plenty of students on campus that would be happy to now exchange their porn back for the religious materials, after all there is only so much you can do after reading all the articles.. Mr. Jackson you have the right to not believe in a God, but there are plenty of people out there that do, so I would hope that you do something useful with what you have collected.

Note: Ms. Kitka will be including Mr. Jacksons story in her weekly podcast this Saturday, if you are interested in an opposing view check it out. For those that aren't familiar with Ms. Kitka, her site is an adult only site, discussing porn as well as other topics.

Pink is for girls

When I was growing up I was never a fan of the color pink. Today pink is one of my favorite colors. It is a color to me that is soft, calming and sexy. With today's emergence of metrosexuals we see the color pink on straight men more today then in the past.

Colors are often used psychologically. Offices use certain colors to keep people pepped, some places use colors to soothe people (including pink). A school is now under fire for using the non gender bias color in a locker room. The opposing team locker room according to the MSNBC article was painted pink several years ago to have a "calming and passive effect on people". Before games, competitions, etc, locker rooms are often the place to "sike up" for an event. The color pink is supposed to fight that effect. Seems to make sense to me.

However, some are upset at the demeaning nature toward women and gays. Can someone please explain this to me? The only thing I see demeaning here is that homosexuals are cornering the color market, first it was rainbows now it is pink? Oh then of course there is the stereotype that those women and gays that are complaining are holding up to: Crybaby.. Oh ok one more... How is it that I as a woman get lumped into a group with homosexuals? I say keep the locker room pink heck paint it what ever color you want, the color has no effect on me, my sexuality or my sense of style.

To be or not to be

A friend of mine has requested I do an entry on a problem she is having. Here is her story... "Jeni" is in her late 20's. She has a daughter from a relationship in highschool. That relationship ended, quickly and the father has never been in either her or her daughters life. Jeni and her daughter lived with her parents. Jeni had an active social life, and her parents often took care of her daughter so Jeni could go out. Jeni met a guy about 3 years ago. "Brian" was quite the partier, and had to change things if he wanted to be with Jeni and her daughter. Jeni got pregnant and they married. Brian went back and forth with his old ways, and after several back and forths they are now going through a divorce. Jeni and the two kids are back at home, and she is currently looking for a job. Now Jeni is talking to Jeff. Jeff is a friend from her past who has always been infactuated with Jeni. They have continued to have a friendship while Jeni was married. Jeff sent flowers to Jeni before she was married, and it has always been clear he wants more than what they have. She however has not wanted the same. Although Jeff is super nice and sweet, and knows everything about Jeni, she has no physical attraction to him. So her email to me this morning read: well, i have gone out with that Jeff guy like 4 times in 3 months and we email all the time and talk a few times a week. he is so nice and just one of those nice guys who gets overlooked. i seem to always have tendancies to the jerk guys and am totally out of that phase. but here's the issue: i am not attracted to him at all and he wrote me today and said he thinks he's in love with me...........can you continue a relationship with someone you have no attraction to and eventually have it? i don't know if this is a topic for your blog but who knows. i need some answers. Alrighty guys you heard the lady... What do you think? If you have any questions, just ask.

Anthem Dance

My Saturday night was spent watching a joke of a boxing match. I am not sure which was worse 1. Hopkins entrance 2. R. Kelly's remix of the National Anthem 3. The scene being filmed for the next Rocky movie 4. The judges decision

I think I am going to have to go with number 2. Yes for some reason they chose a child molester to sing the National Anthem. As if that isn't bad enough this "artist" managed to turn our Anthem into the next hot club song. I have previously begun to get used to the popish versions that are often sung these days replacing the traditional version. This however was beyond that. Kelly did a remixed sort of mangled rendition. To back him up he actually had two sets of dancers, dancing in the ring. Are you kidding me??? Why are so many singers today so anxious to twist the Anthem? Are they expecting it to hit the top 10? Perhaps they feel the need to twist and mangle it in order to avoid not having the caliber voice to pull off singing it in the first place? Lets remember, this is our National Anthem, have respect for it. I would rather hear it sang correctly and off key then turned into some failed attempt to save a career. Our Anthem is something for everyone to sing with or with out a great voice. This is America's Anthem, not American Idols. There was one thing I liked of the performance. The part where it ended and Kelly was rewarded with a sea of boo's.

I said Darn!!

#*!!!***!#@@% and all those other bad words may cost some students their allowance in Connecticut. Yes thats right. Kids will have to fork out a tad more than a hundred bucks every time they cuss at certain Connecticut High Schools. What a load of s... isn't that a violation of freedom of expression? I mean really. How can a highschool student say how they feel if they can't tell a teacher to F off? Oh you mean they should do it without telling them where to stick it? Thats a thought, I suppose..

Does it seem to some that the days of not cussing to your parents or other adults is long over? Whatever happened to the days of soap in the mouth.. Perhaps parents now days watched to much A Christmas Story , you know the kid cusses, soap in the mouth, then imagines himself going blind... "You'll shoot your eye out!" Sorry...

Ok... So back to the issue. Should these kids have to participate in their schools cuss jar? More importantly what happens to the money from the cuss fund? Perhaps an end of year kegger?
