Bada Bling
Last week we heard about Fisher DeBerry and his racist comment. He made the comment that his team isn't doing so hot was because other teams have more black kids and they can run faster. Why I wonder are whites not in an uproar? I mean come on that was who was degraded with the comment. If the comment would have been men can run faster than women it would have been a sexist comment irking a bunch of women, right?
That was not the only racist sports issue in the news last week. The NBA has issued a new dress code, to be enforced to all players during season. The dresscode states according to the Newsweek article
"Unless approved by one's team, players must dress in "business casual when attending to league business or traveling as a team," Stern declared. That means collared shirts, turtlenecks, sweaters, dress slacks, khakis or "dress jeans" are OK. Shorts, T-shirts, sleeveless shirts, sneakers, flip-flops, work boots and gaudy jewelry are not. This has evidently been construed as racist. Seems to me that who ever keeps saying that these two issues are racist are actually the racist ones. I mean really, what do shorts, tshirts, sleevelss shirts etc have to do with being black. The gaudy jewelry, nope that doesn't do it for me either. I didn't realize that black people had cornered the market on these items? When are we going to realize that the majority of people keeping racism as active as it is, are the people that keep screaming racism. Aren't what these people saying is that black people don't own nice clothes, and white people don't have bling. The funny thing is the same guys that have all the bling are saying they need a clothing allowance to meet the leagues new rules. I mean come on I have seen MTV Cribs. You can afford a trip to Nordstroms, or you can pawn some of the bling to subsidize the new wardrobe. What a joke.
