Bada Bling

Last week we heard about Fisher DeBerry and his racist comment. He made the comment that his team isn't doing so hot was because other teams have more black kids and they can run faster. Why I wonder are whites not in an uproar? I mean come on that was who was degraded with the comment. If the comment would have been men can run faster than women it would have been a sexist comment irking a bunch of women, right?

That was not the only racist sports issue in the news last week. The NBA has issued a new dress code, to be enforced to all players during season. The dresscode states according to the Newsweek article

"Unless approved by one's team, players must dress in "business casual when attending to league business or traveling as a team," Stern declared. That means collared shirts, turtlenecks, sweaters, dress slacks, khakis or "dress jeans" are OK. Shorts, T-shirts, sleeveless shirts, sneakers, flip-flops, work boots and gaudy jewelry are not.
This has evidently been construed as racist. Seems to me that who ever keeps saying that these two issues are racist are actually the racist ones. I mean really, what do shorts, tshirts, sleevelss shirts etc have to do with being black. The gaudy jewelry, nope that doesn't do it for me either. I didn't realize that black people had cornered the market on these items? When are we going to realize that the majority of people keeping racism as active as it is, are the people that keep screaming racism. Aren't what these people saying is that black people don't own nice clothes, and white people don't have bling. The funny thing is the same guys that have all the bling are saying they need a clothing allowance to meet the leagues new rules. I mean come on I have seen MTV Cribs. You can afford a trip to Nordstroms, or you can pawn some of the bling to subsidize the new wardrobe. What a joke.

Support of Ms. Jones

I have had a lot of encouragement and support since starting this blog. Before the debut of blogitright.com, I sent out an email to those in my address book. The email read as follows:

Hey guys and gals!! A conservative radio talk show out of Mississippi, has asked me to do a blog for them. Monday is the official launch date, and the site may look a little different at that time, but I would love for everyone to come check it out! www.blogitright.com

I knew that there were probably a few friends and family that had different views than my own. I thought about that of course before sending the email out. Knowing that my friends and family would not care if my views were different than their own, I hit send. I had a lot of emails in support, even some who said I won't agree with your views but Congratulations. I was shocked when a highschool friend sent me the following:

A conservative talk show.... just what the radio needs more lies and hate.
Please remove me from your mailing list.

Thanks,
Rob

Well Rob- Thanks for your support and friendship!!

I have for some sick reason let this bother me since receiving the email so I thought I would share it with you all. My therapist recommended it. Well this and that voodoo spell... Rob will be getting one of my autographed posters for Christmas.

Publicity

Looks like Angelina is still basking in the publicity. She is now eager to adopt another child! That's great for these children, well if you take away the doll factor of it all. Unfortunately for the box children I suggested for Angelina, she would rather adopt from abroad. It must be terrific for a single mother of two children to be able to adopt another, then maybe another. I suggest an alternative to this one at a time thing. Perhaps she should just buy out a third world nation and make them all her happy children, she may at least get a discount!! In other tragic baby news looks like Katie Holmes and Tom's nemesis Brooke Shields are knocked up together. Sounds like the makings of a new Fox reality show. PostPartum on drugs vs PostPartum off drugs. They can make it like a celebrity boxing match! I'm willing to bet on Katie in this match.. and since Angelina is so in need of more attention we can make her a ring girl..

Breaking News

Breaking News although far from surprising. Miers withdrew her nomination for Supreme Court Justice, this morning. Now lets hope President Bush makes a wiser decision.

No Festivus?

Remember the days of Christmas and ThanksGiving Breaks? You spent the week before ThanksGiving learning about Pilgrims and Indians, talking about what you were thankful for and made turkeys out of your hand prints. I remember in early elementary making a Thanksgiving Feast, we even made our own butter. Then of course we had Halloween. We didn't get time off for Halloween but we all sat in the gym singing Halloween songs, then had a costume parade! Always got lots of candy to take home on Halloween. Then we had Christmas. The month of December was always spent rehearsing for the Christmas Pageant. The Christmas Pageant was were parents smiled to cover their grimace while their child sang. Some smiled genuinely even if their kid was horribly off key. Oh and remember when the teachers tricked you into a writing assignment by having you write a letter to Santa? The next big one in kids eyes was Valentines Day. Some of us loved it others dreaded it. Teachers sent home a class list so that parents made sure each student had a valentines card from every other student. We would spend one art session designing a fancy envelope to put on the front of our desks. We would spend one more art session designing a valentine to give to our parents. Of course there were other Holidays in between we learned the background of all of them. Some more fun then others, all educational in their own way.

Then it happened a parent didn't like how Thanksgiving portrayed something peaceful so no more teaching that. Another decided Halloween was a pagan holiday and there went that. The same parent of course was not about to allow a Christmas Holiday, (its now called Winters Break). Valentines Day, are you kidding, kids get their feelings hurt.

At least kids still got time off for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Not to mention Martin Luther King Jr Day, Presidents Day, Labor Day... Well that has now come to an end as well. A Florida School has limited their Holidays to Labor Day, President's Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The school seemed to be a little fed up with everyone coming to them with different Holidays to celebrate. How in these times can a school pick which Holidays are worth having a day off and which are not? The Washington Times reports that the listed Holidays will be the only all school days off. They also state that a student won't be punished for taking a religious day off. Looks like the days of turkeys, ghosts, bad singing, and hearts is over. Thanks to all the Scrooges out there, for taking the spirits out of our children one way at a time! I just want to know do I get Festivus off?

Super Heroes of the Media!!

I have come to learn how important television news people are. They have each single handily done their part to save the world. Sometimes just the simple glance at their face helps us make it through the day. They have gone to war for us, they have had medical tests for us, they have faced murderers for us. They brave rough terrain and rough weather. Earlier this week, Al Roker braved the Hurricane Winds of our latest woman scorned, Wilma. Now for those of you familiar with Al, you probably know that he used to be a bit on the obese side. Through diet, exercise and surgery Al is now much lighter. His weight loss proved to be a career hazard as the 100 mph winds actually knocked him over. Oh the brave soul. Now a man standing in hurricane winds getting blown over doesn't really surprise me. I don't think we need you to stand in the hurricane for us the lowly viewer to know how strong the wind is. What really surprises me is that him being blown over is actually news. But every breath easy he is ok and will undoubtadly brave the next hurricane force winds again for us soon.

His family can't save, will the Governor?

Cofounder of the Crips will die. Let me rephrase that after all we all die. Cofounder of the Gang Crips will be executed. What a shame.. I mean really this man wrote childrens books (yeah so did Madonna), and even was even nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. Sure why not the founder of the Crips and Mohamed ElBaradei, I can see the problem. Yes Yes, I know people change. However, this man helped create one of the most notorious gangs in the nations, with several branches. Should a man who has taken the lives of many either directly or by just starting the Gang, be spared for his efforts since? According to the Chicago Tribune, supporters of Williams claim aside from writing of childrens books he has been an anti gang advocate.

I remember a day in elementary school. School had just let out. I was wearing a new coat. A new red coat. I remember rumors flying that some Crip gang members had come to our small town. The stories were they would kill anyone wearing their adversary gangs colors. Yup red.. I know this was a load of bull. The point of the story was that this Gang had come to be a thought in our minds all the way in Colorado at the age of 10. If this had such in impact on us what did it do to those closer.

When I hit highschool, the Crips weren't a thought. We had local gangs in our schools. I remember always thinking that those kids weren't dangerous. They were a family. Of course then I started seeing their names in the crime beat section of the newspaper. Their crimes ranged some as petty as theft some as serious as murder. Yup some family. Thats what the creators and heads of these gangs want their followers to feel, a sense of family.

If this man is so sorry for what he has created, does he not see that he must be punished. Oh and did I forget to mention.. This man is not being executed for starting what some consider their family. He is being executed for murders he committed. Its a shame that the good he has supposedly done since being incarcerated, didnt happen before he committed the crimes. Then perhaps a Nobel Peace Prize nomination would have been justified.

Death

NEWS UPDATE: Rosa Parks Has Died. More to come

Anarchy in the USA

Yale has let go one of its associate professors. The Fox article claims that most think it is due to his politics. David Graeber, an anarchist and previously an anthropology professor is very active in the anarchist movement. Graeber has many published works and also articles about his anarchist beliefs. Graeber also belongs to anarchist groups including Direct Action Network and Ya Basta.

So what does this have to with his ability as a professor? In my past experience as a college student, I found that professors with agendas, often got in the way of lessons. Although that doesn't necessarily mean that this professor has that problem. Universities and Colleges have always been the coming out politically speaking for young adults. Aside from those who teach religion or politics should those beliefs carry over to school? Yale has not said that Graebers political beliefs have anything to do with his being let go. However if they feel that his "extra curricular" activities reflect poorly I don't blame them for letting him go. Its a shame that CU Boulder didn't have the guts that Yale may be showing. Is it to late to follow suit and can Ward Churchill?

Another Murder Tragedy

I figured I may as well go for three to end the week. 9 years ago 2 priests were brutally murdered. "Brutally murdered" aren't all murders brutal? Anyhow Doug Comiskey was 20 years old when he went to the Catholic parish. He used a family members key for access, then killed them. He plead insanity and has been in the State Hospital since. Doug's status has recently changed. He is now able to leave several hours from his supervised cottage at the hospital. The community has justifiably mixed reactions. Is it fair for a murderer to be so free? Yesterday and now today we have talked or mentioned 3 different murders, 3 different circumstances, and obviously 3 different punishments. I even have 3 different opinions on them. Doug claimed to have had hallucinations and suffered from schizophrenia. He is taking medications on his own now, and is evidently not experiencing the psychosis he had in the past. Definately not any that he had experienced that night. The courts ruled he be under psychiatric care, does that mean the Hospital get to choose how free Doug should be? It was a tragic story then and it is a tragic story now.

Murderers 2 Stories

UPDATE: DONNA HAS BEEN GRANTED RELEASE TO A HALF WAY HOUSE. MORE TO COME

Donna Yaklich is up for parole today. This isn't the first parole hearing but it will hopefully be the last. Donna had her abusive husband killed. She has spent several years behind bars. Todays parole hearing is a little different then past parole hearings. Her husbands first wifes death is now finally being investigated as a murder(he would be the #1 Suspect). Perhaps with Donna's record and the possible murder of the 1st wife, she may actually be paroled. You can read more about the background of Donnas case from a previous blog entry.

I hope that you all pray and keep your fingers crossed for Donna.

It ain't over till

I, like many of you thought I would not hear about Scott Peterson hopefully until the headlines read Scott Peterson met with his Creator last night. Sadly though he is in the press again. He importantly keeps up his slime ball image in his latest debacle.

In the October 17, 2005 issue of People Magazine there is an article about the battle Laci's family is facing now with their daughter and grandson's murderer. Scott is now working on receiving Laci's insurance money. I mean its only right that he as beneficiary receive his money. He worked hard for the money.. Just think of all the hard work it takes to lie like that Son of a did.

According to the article he feels it is only right that the insurance money be held until he has no more appeal options left. Because (say it with me) he is innocent. His appeal attempts could take up to 20 years to run out. Does interest accrue on that insurance money? Cuz if so maybe he has the right idea here. Really Scott you wanted Laci out of your life that should include the money too. Exactly how long are you going to continue to deny Laci's family some sort of closure? The rest of us are pretty tired of you as well. I appologize to all for even giving this dirtbag more attention. Ah just think 20 more years worth of appeals...

What do you get when you mix a woman, a husband and a duck? Lawsuit!

UPDATE: I recently spoke with an AFLAC agent. He said although the CEO is a born again Christian the organization itself is not a "Christian" business per say. He also pointed out that insurance agents, such as those involved in the love triangle are not employees. They are independent contractors. Hence they cannot be fired.

There are certain situations in life where we refuse to look at ourselves, but look to others to place blame. Instead of realizing where the fault really lies it is much easier at times to blame an outsider. Such is the case of an AFLAC employee. Yes that is right AFLAC, that cute but all so annoying duck is a home wrecker! The Sun Times out of Chicago is reporting a female and her hubby both were employed with the supposed Christian business. In fact the article says the Christian part is what drew them in.

Problem is when hubby and another employee decided to get some side action with each other. Wifey is a little irked. Instead of smacking her husband and mistress upside the head ( no I don't really promote violence) and hiring a darn good divorce attorney. The woman hired a lawyer just not the right kind. The lady is suing AFLAC. Yup the big giant squawking duck proved to emit too much romantic ambience for the husband and his side. In all seriousness though she feels the company should do something as it is "against the company standards". Now I don't blame her for being ticked off. Truly it is a shame that the company would keep this couple employed, especially if they do claim to be a Christian Company. I remember childhood jobs were we could be fired for dating a fellow employee. Here we are talking about real careers and marriage, but why sue them? They surely didn't force your husband into breaking his vows. Sue the nice young lady that slept with your husband, if you really feel the need to play that card. She and your husband are the only two really at fault here.

The divorce was final in 2002, it is now 2005 and this woman wants to sue. Sounds like a woman scorned. Perhaps Aflac isn't as christian minded as they claimed, or perhaps they feel this out of their realm. I say move on from him and Aflac. But whatever you do make sure you get some of those talking stuffed ducks when you leave, perhaps you can use them as target practice and take your anger out outside of the courtroom.

Note: A search of the Aflac website found no claims of being a Christian Faith Based Company.

Sex, Drug, Booze, Rock N Roll AKA PROM

How many of you remember Prom? Ladies, getting all dressed up, primping and hoping no one else had on the same dress. Guys, looking handsome wondering how their chicks are going to look. Bad music, bad hair, and bad decorations. Oh, and we have all heard (although surely not experienced) stories about spiking the punch, hotel rooms among other things...

I am lucky enough to have my before prom antics on tape. My mother and her best friend thought it would be hilarious to video my date picking me up and me waiting for him. I haven't watched it for years but I remember the stuffing in the top of the dress (I needed a place to keep tissues...) Lets Talk About Sex , strategically played from a stereo as my date came to the door. In case you were wondering this was the last date I had with this boy. Anyhow, I felt like a princess, we had a great night. No sex, drugs or booze were a factor in that night. I know I know what a square.. Hey I stuffed and there may have been a five second frencher involved what more do you want!?

Ok enough of that. My memories came to me tonight after reading an article about a promless school year in New York. It seems a principal at a school in New York has decided to veto the prom this year. According to the article at MSNBC.com his excuse is "financial decadence" My first thought was what a bunch of crap! I mean really how can you keep prom out of school. He is evidently upset about the substantial amounts of money that is being spent for pre and post parties, and what is happening at these events. Is it really his place to stop this? I have to believe that the money is coming from the parents, doesn't that liability fall in their laps?

I should have realized when the principal was referred to as Brother, there was something more to this story. Yes, that is right the school in question is a Roman Catholic School. So does that change the story. I would have to say yes. How has this school lost control? I mean this is a Catholic School, a school that should be teaching not only the educational stuff but also the moral stuff. Why exactly do these parents have these kids in the school? Just so they can say they have their kids in a Catholic School. Are they really giving their children the financial backing for the parties described in the article? It is obvious to me that the school has lost control and this is the only way they can gain it back. A school in Santa Barbara has chosen to do this by administering breathalyzers at Homecoming. Are breathalyzers at a Roman Catholic School the answer, probably not.

I would hope that the decision to cancel prom came after several parent meetings and several brainstorms. All I can say is kids keep working on the Brother, stop being spoiled brats, leave the alcohol and drugs in your parents closet. Pay attention to the nuns and behave! Brother sic the Nuns on the kids, then give them their prom. Its Prom, its a part of life keep preaching the things not for them to do and encourage the right things. Eventually they will be out from under your wings, and will be on their own, prepare them for that. Parents, dole out the cash for dresses, suits, flowers, and maybe limos. Money for hotel rooms, party boats, etc. are you kidding me?? Oh and no video cameras, kleenex, or blaring Lets Talk about Sex before pictures!!!!

Is She The One?

I have been asked by some what my thoughts on the Miers nomination are. I have really debated whether I should write an entry on the subject or not. Then I thought, its my blog I can blog about whatever I want!!

The big fight with the left in regards to Harriet Ellan Miers is her stance on abortion. Evidently some feel that she is not professional enough to look at the laws of our land and make non biased decisions. Hmm here is my problem with that... Ruth Bader Ginsberg.. Can someone explain to me how a lawyer for the ACLU can handle being non biased but Harriet Miers cannot? Oh that's right Clinton nominated her so its different. Just about everyone in the Country has an opinion on abortion and other issues. How can a person who is involved in the issues not have an opinion on them. It is the Supreme Justices job to put those opinions aside as much as is possible and do their job. If Harriet Miers was pro-choice would it be a problem for the left?

Is Harriet Miers the right person for the job? Despite what both sides say, she really does have plenty of legal experience. Her resume is impressive. Are there others out there as qualified or more qualified? ABSOLUTELY.

Now with that said do I think she is the right person for the job, not so much. I think this nomination may be the product of a few different things. One, pressure from the left and the right to nominate a woman. Again we see where equality means having to hire a woman, a minority etc. Seems he wants to make everyone happy. Instead he is doing quite the opposite and frankly is ticking off a lot of people. Two, could this be a product of his past? I truly hope not. It isn't possible to make all of the people happy. We don't vote for the President to make us happy we vote for him to do whats best for the Country. Of course it also means we don't vote for him to do whats best for him.

There are many qualified candidates for this position, Harriet Miers included. Whether or not Ms. Miers is the right choice will likely soon be seen. With two appointees to the Supreme Court during this Presidents term, this is an exciting time for conservatives. Short of nomination of Ms. Jones, it couldn't get more exciting. Just think nomination to the Woman's Hall of Fame and Supreme Court Justice all in the same week.

May I See Your Green Cards Please?

When I was younger, I lived on a town very close to the Mexican border. I never really noticed it except on weekends at the local Walmart. Of course I didn't pay taxes back then. My father still lives in that town and I now live in a town that is full of immigrants, not just Mexican and not just legal. I see how illegal immigrants affect my life almost on a daily basis. Last summer my father was talking to me about how people pay for it all the time.

He told me then how several illegals hop into a car. Some make it across. The problem sometimes come when the vehicles are over loaded. An axle breaks, a tire blows, all due to the extra weight. The car spins out of control and BAM! They either die or they go to the hospital. Now who pays those hospital bills? The average family in Arizona (legals) pay an average of $700..00 a year in extra taxes to pay off things like this.

I have many issues with illegals. After reading an article about a bunch of illegal immigrants in Utah who wrecked their vehicle not too long ago. One died, fifteen did not. I immediately thought of what my father told me. So who is paying for these accident victims? Its bad enough we as legal citizens have to pay for other legal citizens. Why should we also pay for illegals? Think that illegal immigration doesn't affect you? Think again!

I guess illegals working for less than minimum wage is one way to make sure they pay back their debt to our Country. Eh forget it, SEND THEM BACK!!

Who's Rights?

October 11th is National Come Out Day. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation evidently started this Holiday 18 years ago! Why is today National Come OutDay? Are they limiting themselves by allowing it to only happen one day out of the year? And they say they are for Human Rights of Gays, Lesbians, transgendered and bisexuals(gltb). Which brings me to my next question... Are they being discriminatory by not protecting the rights of non gay, lesbian, transgendered and bisexuals? Are Gays, Lesbians, transgendereds and bisexuals not humans? If so, don't they just naturally have rights. I mean when was the last time you saw one water fountain for straights and one for gltb's? Are gltb's not aloud to vote, drive or go to the same schools as nongltb's?

Ok, back to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.. This organization is a do it your self website. If you go to their site, you will learn everything you needed to know. They will tell you how to come out, when to come out, why your gay, and that you are gay. Hmmm gosh and you think straight people or religious people preach how to live?

Alrighty, now on to National Come Out Day. We have already gotten past the one day issue, lets move on to something else. Some of you may have heard of a Day Of Silence. How can an organization that is trying to promote equality organize things like Day of Silence and National Come Out Day. I am personally tired of hearing about equality and human rights, then seeing days specifically designed to single out certain groups. Make up your minds. If you are gay then be gay why does a special day need to be made for it. Do you really need some organization tell you its your day? Everyday is my day, make it yours too.

I don't believe that glt's or b's deserve anything special. They have rights, just like those of us who are straight. Why do so many in that self proclaimed category want so badly to discriminate themselves? If you are a human you are a human. I could care less what you choose to do in your bedroom, as long as it is consensual. You don't want me telling you how to live your life why in the world would you want the Humans Rights Campaign Foundation to tell you how to live it. This is a campaign that forces you to be different, and segregate your selves. I'm not the enemy they are.

Clinton a Woman?

When I first saw the headline: Clinton Inducted To Women's Hall of Fame, I thought what has our former President done this time. I mean Monica never said he was THAT good. However, since he had decided to become a self proclaimed spokesperson for minorities, I figured heck maybe now he is a woman. I now see that the headlines read Hillary Inducted to Women's Hall of Fame.

So I must ask to myself what makes Hillary someone worthy of being inducted to the Women's Hall of Fame? If you browse the list of women who are members of the esteemed Hall of Fame, you will see a wide variety of "women". We have Lucille Ball, Maya Angelou, Gloria Steinem and more. All in all not too bad of a list. So again where does Hillary fit in?

To become a subject among many, several being on the feminist side of things (feminist not feminine), I wonder do the rest of the women approve? After all how many of them would have stood by their man after the Monica episode?

If you look at the article from NewsMax, they refer to some letter Hillary wrote at the age of 14. She wanted to join the space program, and wrote them a letter. They, according to the article said no chicks allowed(in different terms). So now Hillary apparently triumphed from that harsh blow to her childhood dreams. True she still isn't in the space program. By golly though look what she has made it through? Give me a break, if all it takes to make it into the Women's Hall of Fame is get your cheating hubby into an oh so powerful position to further your own career; I know lots of women who deserve the so called honor.

I must weigh the alternative and go back to my original assumption of which Clinton was inducted. I would have to say that former President Clinton is far more deserving of the induction. So until Hillary is also known as former President Clinton I just don't see her place. For now I hereby nominate Ms. Jones... any seconds??

They were handcrafted boxes!

A month ago we were all shocked to hear the story of a family of 11 adoptees. No the big shocker wasn't that someone adopted 11 children. I just figured they hit the buy one get one free deal down at the corner store. The shocker was thie living arrangements. Eight of the eleven children often slept in cages. At the time I heard the story I thought about how tragic it was and how we would probably never hear about it again. I was wrong. Last weeks People Magazine had a few page article.
I anxiously read the article, hoping to hear that the adopted parents had been stuck in a cage of their own. Unfortunately they didn't have much else to tell. According to the article the kids seemed to not be abused. However also according to the article a neighboor states they saw mommy dearest beating them with a broomstick. Hmmm wonder what else she did with that broomstick(transportation perhaps). The parents claim to be innocent and according to all reports, it was recommended they lock their children when needed. I again read the article, closed that magazine, and thought hmm wonder if we will ever hear what happens..

ABC News is now reporting that the defense lawyer says they are innocent. Wow.. there is a shocker: DEFENSE LAWYER CLAIMS CLIENTS INNOCENT!! Is locking children in a finely constructed colorfull "box" with soft padding and a personal security system, really abuse?

Why when I was a child I used to have to sleep in a milk crate (not some fancy shmancy handcrafted box), with newspaper as padding and a pitbull as my security system. Outside! In the snow! My mother used to hand us the phone and the number for social services before she beat us. (just kidding mom) Of course sticking your child in a crate is abuse! What is not abusive about that? Some claim these people to be warm hearted, after all they adopted 11. Yes, they may have adopted them but they didn't give them a home.

I am interested in seeing how much money these people made from the state each month for adopting these children. It must have been for money. It surely wasn't in order to help the children. Really, how much help can you give when there are bars separating you from the child?

I think it is only fair that these people do get sent to their own cages. Heck they'd be lucky, at least theirs will be furnished with a toilet and a mattress. As for the children, what will happen to them? Lets all just hope that Angelina Jolie needs some more publicity. She even sports a Tennesse Williams quote as one of her tattoo's.. "A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages." It's destiny!!
